Heaven and earth will pass away:
“Forever, O LORD, thy word is settled in
heaven” (Psalm 119:89).
Jesus says: “No man can serve two masters:
for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to
the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon” (Matthew 6:24).
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall
gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in
exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8:36-37).
“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words
shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:34–35).
Jesus’ disciple Peter said: “Seeing then that
all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in
all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of
the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the
elements shall melt with fervent heat?” (2 Peter 3:10-12).
“Nevertheless
we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein
dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such
things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and
blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as
our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath
written unto you;” (2 Peter 3:13-15).
