What;s next?
However unique, ubiquitous or awe inspiring is
the next big thing: technology, gadget, car, event or whatever to pass the time
in this world: “Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it
hath been already of old time, which was before us” (Ecclesiastes 1:10).
“The thing that hath been, it is that which
shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no
new thing under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:9).
“For who knoweth what is good for man in this
life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? For who can
tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?” (Ecclesiastes 6:12).
“The words of the Preacher, the son of David,
king in Jerusalem. Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities;
all is vanity” (Ecclesiastes 1:1-2).
“Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and
drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works. Whatsoever
thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device,
nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest” (Ecclesiastes 9:7,
10).
However, just remember these words: Follow
Jesus Christ to the end: “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of
Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to
that he hath done, whether it be good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10).
“And moreover I saw under the sun the place
of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that
iniquity was there. I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the
wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work”
(Ecclesiastes 3:16-17).
Jesus
Christ says: “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give
every man according as his work shall be” (Revelation 22:12).
