Weeping and gnashing of teeth:
Many people still have a displaced sense of
reality about being in the kingdom of God; they believe that somehow being
righteous and living uprightly is boring. Those with such an opinion instead
express opinions such as “live your life the way you want to,” which seems to
be the mantra of life for many in this present time.
Going even further, many have bemoaned that
there is so much going on that there is just not enough time to take it all in
a lifetime. However, this belief is mistaken, misguided, and misinformed; those
who think this way need to stop and re-evaluate life because in the end of
time, only the meek will receive a reward of inheritance and will delight
themselves in the abundance of peace (Psalm 37:11).
“For he that will love life, and see good
days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no
guile. Let him eschew evil, and do well; let him seek peace, and ensue it” (1
Peter 3:10–11).
What life should we seek to live today? What is
the use of having lived this lifetime and not come to repentance and remissions
of our sins to seek to obtain life when this world ends on the Last Day?
Therefore, do not waste this lifetime because
whether we are alive or asleep we will be awake on Day of Judgment to face the
only Savior: Jesus Christ who says: “The
time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe
the gospel” (Mark 1:15). “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke
13:3).
Jesus forewarned the generation when he was
on this earth, which still echoes to all generations said: “Verily I say unto
you, that there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of
death, till they have seen the Kingdom of God come with power’” (Mark 9:1).
The mere mention of those words “taste of
death” should send chills into every one who has not as yet repented and does
not believe the gospel because Jesus also forewarned saying, “There will be
weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 8:12).
