Called and chosen:
Jesus says: “I am the way, the truth, and the
life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is
the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be
which go in thereat; because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which
leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Matthew 7:13–14).
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord,
Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my
Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 7:21).
“For many are called, but few are chosen”
(Matthew 22:14).
“But many that are first shall be last; and
the last shall be first” (Matthew 19:30).
“But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew
first, and also to the Gentile” (Romans 2:10).
Let us therefore be reminded that Paul the
apostle said to: “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling that ye
may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without
offence till the day of Christ” (Philippians 2:12, 1:10).
“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may
have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this
world” (1 John 4:17).
