Believe in God?
To this day, many people still only say: “I
believe in God.” But, it is not enough to believe in God. James, the brother of
Jesus, put this into perspective when he said, “Thou believest that there is
one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble” (James 2:19).
To believe in God we must also believe in the Word of God.
To believe in God we must also believe in the Word of God.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God”
(John 1:1–2). “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld
his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and
truth” (John 1:14).
The Word of God, made flesh and full of grace
and truth, is the only begotten Son of God: JESUS.
If we do not believe that Jesus is the only
begotten Son of God, then we do not believe in the Word of God. Hence, we do
not believe God.
Jesus expressed to unbelievers in his time
here on earth, said: “Ye are of your father the Devil, and the lusts of your
father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the
truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of
his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it” (John 8:44).
“Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus
is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son” (1 John
2:22).
“Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not
the Father” (1 John 2:23). “For many deceivers are entered into the world, who
confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an
antichrist” (2 John 1:7).
“Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the
Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God” (1 John 4:15).
