Deceitfulness of riches:
The devil uses money to
deceive the whole world. To worship the prince of this world, the devil, aka
Satan to gain power and wealth in this world is a loss of a lifetime.
When Jesus was here the
devil offered the kingdoms of this world if he would worship him. However, Jesus
told him saying: “Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship
the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve” (Matthew 4:10).
“For what shall it profit a
man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a
man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8:36-37).
“No servant can serve two
masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will
hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon” (Luke
16:13).
“God hath spoken once; twice
have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God” (Psalm 62:11).
“Humble yourselves therefore
under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: casting all
your care upon him; for he careth for you” (1 Peter 5:6–7).
