JEALOUS GOD.
“I AM the LORD thy God. Thou
shalt have no other gods before me” (Exodus 20:2–3). “For thou shalt worship no
other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God” (Exodus
34:14).
Let us all take heed of
these words of God:
Generations of the children
of Israel were warned from the time that God brought them out from Egypt not to
serve other gods. Joshua warned the people of Israel that God was a holy and
jealous God, and if they forsook God and served strange gods, then God would
turn and hurt and consume them even after he had done good things for them
(Joshua 24:19–20).
“And the people said unto
Joshua, ‘Nay; but we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:21).
“Who among us shall dwell
with the devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?”
(Isaiah 33:14). “For the LORD thy God is
a consuming fire, even a jealous God” (Deuteronomy 4:24).
“God is jealous, and the
LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take
vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies” (Nahum
1:2).
“The LORD at thy right hand
shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. He shall judge among the
heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the
heads over many countries” (Psalm 110:5–6).
“Therefore wait ye upon me,
saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination
is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them
mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured
with the fire of my jealousy” (Zephaniah 3:8).
Jesus, the only begotten Son
of God warns, saying: “No servant can serve two masters: for either he will
hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise
the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon” (Luke 16:13).
DO NOT WORSHIP THE BEAST AND
HIS IMAGE, AND RECEIVE HIS MARK IN THE FOREHEAD, OR IN THE HAND.
“And
the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the
beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The
same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without
mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire
and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the
Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they
have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever
receiveth the mark of his name” (Revelation 14:9-11).
