ETERNAL LIFE (John 3:16-18).
When Jesus was asked: “Good
Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?” (Matthew
19:16); he answered: “Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one,
that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments” (Matthew
19:17).
“The young man then asked,
“Which?” (Matthew 19:18).
“Jesus said, Thou shalt do
no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not
bear false witness,
Honour thy father and thy
mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Matthew 19:18-19).
The Apostle Paul, the
apostle to the Gentiles confirmed when he said: “For Christ is the
end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth” (Romans 10:4).
“Owe no man any thing, but
to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
For this, Thou shalt not
commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear
false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it
is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour
as thyself.
Love worketh no ill to his
neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law” (Romans 13:8-10).
“He that hath an ear, let
him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I
give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God”
(Revelation 2:7).
“And, behold, I come
quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work
shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the
last.
Blessed are they that do his
commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in
through the gates into the city” (Revelation 22:12-14).
