Heaven and earth will pass away!
Many of us listen to the radio or
watch television to see the weather forecast before we leave the house in the
morning; this helps us to prepare for the weather ahead. If it is forecasted to
rain, we take an umbrella; if extreme cold is predicted, we dress warmly; and
so on. We believe the weather forecaster on the radio or television, even
though it is just a prediction. Based on that forecast, we prepare for the
weather of the day.
As we believe the weather
forecasted for the day to prepare for ahead for our safety and well-being,
shouldn’t we be prepared for the Last Day as foretold by the word of God?
“For, behold, the day cometh that
shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall
be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of
hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch” (Malachi 4:1).
“But the day of the Lord will come
as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great
noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the
works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things
shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy
conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day
of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements
shall melt with fervent heat?” (2 Peter 3:10-12).
Therefore, the same way we believe
the forecasted information supplied by satellites or other scientific
instruments about weather forecasts, we must without doubt believe the coming
events foretold by the word of God. God loves us so much that he does not want
to see anyone perish when on the Last Day (Revelation 11:18).
To reject the word of God is to
reject God; to reject God is to reject the only begotten Son of God which is to
reject the gift of life everlasting (Jeremiah 8:9) (John 3:16-18).
Jesus, the only begotten Son of God says: “I am
come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in
darkness. And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I
came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and
receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken,
the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:46-48).
