Heaven and earth will pass away!
This may not be a known fact but, God
regretted that he created human beings on the earth.
“God saw that the wickedness of man was great
in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only
evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth,
and it grieved him at his heart” (Genesis 6:5–6).
“And the LORD said, ‘I will destroy man whom
I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the
creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made
them.’ But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD” (Genesis 6:7–8).
If it was not for the fact that Noah found
favor with God because he was a just man and walked with God, the human race
would be extinct (Genesis 6:9–13). However, “Noah and his family were saved
from the flood that destroyed the earth” (Genesis 8:18–20).
However,
since the time that Noah and his family came out of the ark to inhabit the
earth, Peter, a disciple of Jesus warned from his generation people who doubted
that this heaven and earth will pass away, saying: “For this they willingly are
ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth
standing out of the water and in the water:
Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished.
But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in
store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly
men” (2 Peter 3:5-7).
