"...Better to marry than to burn” (1 Corinthians 7:9).
How often have we heard someone say: “This is
my body and I can do with it as I please?”
While we all have free will to do with our
body as we please, we must not overlook the fact that we did not create our own
body (Jeremiah 32:27).
“For we must all appear before the judgment
seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body,
according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad” (2 Corinthians
5:10).
“Now the body is not for fornication, but for
the Lord; and the Lord for the body. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man
doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against
his own body” (1 Corinthians 6:13).
“Now
concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to
touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own
wife, and let every woman have her own husband. But if they cannot contain, let
them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn” (1 Corinthians 7:1-2, 9).
