What is Life?
-Take
away the homes;
-Take
away the vehicles;
-Take
away the jewelry;
-Take
away the art collections;
-Take
away all the wealth and riches;
-Take
away the clothes;
What
is left?
Job expressed
it best when he said: “Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I
return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the
name of the LORD” (Job 1:21).
“For
God seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish,
and leave their wealth to others. Their inward thought is, that their houses
shall continue forever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call
their lands after their own names. Nevertheless man being in honor abideth not:
he is like the beasts that perish” (Psalm 49:10–12).
“In
the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider. God also
hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find
nothing after him” (Ecclesiastes 7:14).
Job
also asked: “If a man die, shall he live again?” (Job 14:14).
“For
ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:2–3).
“Jesus
Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8) says:
“Take
heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance
of the things which he possesseth” (Luke 12:15).
“Search
the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they
which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life” (John
5:39–40).
“I
am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were
dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never
die. Believest thou this?” (John 11:25-26).
“For
as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son
quickeneth whom he will. For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all
judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour
the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath
sent him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and
believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into
condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:21-24).
“No
man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will
raise him up at the last day” (John 6:44).
“I
am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”
(John 14:6).
