L I F E or death = E T E R N A L L I F E or Second Death.
There
are slogans in this world that are misleadimg and misrepresentative of our lifetime
on this earth. Once such well know slogan is “You only live once”. To this end,
many people have also expressed: “We may as well live life to the fullest because
we have to die anyway”.
But,
is it correct to say: “You only live once”?
The
word of God says: “For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God”
(Colossians 3:3). “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this
the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).
When
human beings die this is not the End:
“For
we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may
receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it
be good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10).
Jesus
warned when he was here on earth said: ‘Verily I say unto you, that there be
some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have
seen the Kingdom of God come with power’” (Mark 9:1). “There will be weeping
and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 8:12).
The
mere mention of those words “taste of death” should send chills into everyone
who has not as yet repented and does not believe the gospel because this is the
Second Death!
In
the Book of Revelation John foresaw the Day of Judgment, saying: “And I saw a
great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the
heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
And
I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened:
and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were
judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their
works.
And
the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the
dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their
works.
And
death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever
was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire”
(Revelation 20:11-15).
We
must be wise with our time on this earth; and do not waste this lifetime
because whether we are alive or asleep we will be awake on the Last Day for the
Day of Judgment to face the only Savior (Matthew 25:31-46): Jesus Christ who says:
“The
time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe
the gospel” (Mark 1:15). “Except ye
repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3).
