On the LAST DAY heaven and earth will PASS AWAY!
At a pivotal axis when time
began, “The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if
there were any that did understand, and seek God” (Psalm 14:2). “God saw that
the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the
thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that
he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart” (Genesis 6:5–6).
“And the LORD said, ‘I will
destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and
beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me
that I have made them.’ But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD” (Genesis
6:7–8).
Notwithstanding that Noah
and his family were rescued, to this day the curse is still on the earth
(Genesis 3:17); “Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water,
perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are
kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of
ungodly men” (2 Peter 3:6-7).
“The earth also is defiled
under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed
the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant” (Isaiah 24:5).
“The earth and all the
inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah. But God
is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another” (Psalm 75:3, 7).
“But the [DAY OF THE LORD
WILL COME AS A THIEF IN THE NIGHT]; in the which the heavens shall [PASS AWAY]
with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth
also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all
these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all
holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the
day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the
elements shall melt with fervent heat?” (2 Peter 3:10-12).
“Nevertheless we, according
to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth
righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be
diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And
account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved
brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto
you;” (2 Peter 3:13-15).
