The Day of the LORD.
“This is the day which the
LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).
“Alas for the day! For the
day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it
come” (Joel 1:3). “For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one
that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be
brought low” (Isaiah 2:12).
Jesus says: “Watch ye
therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these
things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man” (Luke
21:34–36).
“But of that day and hour
knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only” (Matthew
24:36). “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of
man be” (Matthew 24:37).
“When ye therefore shall see
the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the
holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in
Judæa flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down
to take any thing out of his house:
Neither let him which is in
the field return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with
child, and to them that give suck in those days!
But pray ye that your flight
be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: For then shall be great
tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no,
nor ever shall be.
And except those days should
be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those
days shall be shortened” (Matthew 24:15-22).
“So likewise ye, when ye see
these things come to pass, know ye that the Kingdom of God is nigh at hand;
then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke
21:31, 28).
“Rejoice ye in that day, and
leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like
manner did their fathers unto the prophets” (Luke 6:23).
