HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!
One of the ten commandments
God gave to the people of Israel and as a guide to us all was “Honour thy
father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days
may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD
thy God giveth thee” (Deuteronomy 5:16).
Every child needs a family,
and like any good home here on earth, every child must be obedient to their
parents. Similarly, God expects the same in his house and will only allow those
who are righteous to come home.
Jesus is very clear when he
expressed that unless we become as little children, we will not enter into the
kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 18:3). Simply, if we think of ourselves to be more
than children, then such thinking implies we do not need God. We must humble
ourselves as little children and obey God. As little children obey and look up
to their fathers and mothers, so we as God’s creatures must look up to God,
the FATHER, our Creator (Romans 8:20-21).
“Mine eyes shall be upon the
faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect
way, he shall serve me” (Psalm 101:6). “Surely
the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy
presence” (Psalm 140:13).
Jesus, the only begotten Son
of God, the Father says: “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good
pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32).
