DAY OF JUDGMENT: Rich versus POOR.
“The
rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all” (Proverbs 22:2).
There
are those in this world with riches along with the trappings of a weathly
lifestyle, and on the other hand, untold numbers of people live every day with
barely enough to get by in this world.
On
the surface, it may appear that those with wealth and riches have it all, and
those with barely enough have nothing at all, but do not be deceived.
James,
the brother of Jesus put into prospective our lifetime when he asked: “Hath not
God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which
he hath promised to them that love him?” (James 2:5).
“I
love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. Riches and
honor are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. That I may cause
those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures”
(Proverbs 8:17–21).
Jesus
says: “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth
corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves
treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where
thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will
your heart be also” (Matthew 6:19-21).
“Woe
unto you that are rich; for ye have received your consolation” (Luke 6:24). “How
hardly shall they that have riches enter into the Kingdom of God” (Luke 18:24).
“Take
heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the
abundance of the things which he possesseth” (Luke 12:15).
Jesus.
also expressed that we must not “Let the cares of this world, and the
deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the
word and it becometh unfruitful” (Mark 4:19).
“He
that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the
word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the Last Day” (John
12:48).
