LOVE OF GOD or love of self?
“Who
changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature
more than the Creator, who is blessed forever? Amen” (Romans 1:25).
How
can the creature be more than the Creator?
How
can man become more than God?
“Wherefore,
when I came, was there no man? When I called, was there none to answer?”
(Isaiah 50:2).
In
the beginning the LORD God said: “Let us make man in our image, after our
likeness. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he
him; male and female created he them.” (Genesis 1:26-27).
“And
the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his
nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul” (Genesis 2:7).
“I
am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me. Woe unto him
that striveth with his Maker” (Isaiah 45:5, 9).
“For I will not contend forever, neither will
I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I
have made” (Isaiah 57:16).
“For
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son
into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be
saved” (John 3:16-17).
“For
there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus:
who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time” (1 Timothy
2:5–6).
“Then
said Jesus unto his disciples, ‘If any man will come after me, let him [DENY
HIMSELF], and take up his cross, and follow me’” (Matthew 16:24). “And he that
taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me” (Matthew
10:38).
“This
know also, that in the [LAST DAYS PERILOUS TIMES SHALL COME]. For men shall be
lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient
to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false
accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors,
heady, highminded, [LOVERS OF PLEASURES MORE THAN LOVERS OF GOD]; having a form
of godliness, but denying the power thereof: [FROM SUCH TURN AWAY]” (2 Timothy
3:1–5).
Especially
in this present time we must be reminded to LOVE GOD above ALL!
Furthermore,
during this Christmas season, we are to be watchful in all things to keep at
the forefront of our daily lives the love of the word of God, the love of the
Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; and not the love of this world (Luke 4:4,
11:28).
