JESUS was sent to eath to be the SALVATION OF GOD.
We
celebrate of the utmost significance the birth of Christ for he is the SALVATION
OF GOD. This was made apparent by Simeon, a just and devout man in Jerusalem
who it was revealed by the Holy Spirit that he would not die until he had seen
the Lord’s Christ (Luke 2: 25-26). When Simeon saw Jesus for the first time he
said:
“For
mine eyes have seen thy [SALVATION], which thou hast prepared before the face
of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people
Israel” (Luke 2:30-32).
“Blessed
be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, And
hath raised up an horn of [SALVATION] for us in the house of his servant David;
As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world
began” (Luke 1:68-70).
“Now
when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judæa in the days of Herod the king,
behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he
that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are
come to worship him.
When
they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were
come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell
down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they
presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh” (Matthew 2:1-2,
10-11).
