GOOD FRIDAY: REPENTANCE
On
the day that our Lord, Savior and King was crucified, he endured unimaginable
things at the hands of the roman soldiers who mocked, scourge and spit on him
(Mark 10:24).
“And
the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Prætorium; and they call
together the whole band. And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown
of thorns, and put it about his head, And began to salute him, Hail, King of the
Jews!
And
they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their
knees worshipped him. And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple
from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him” (Mark
15:16-20).
Every
human alive on today would be wise to come to REPENTANCE of sins and accept
Jesus Christ as Lord, Savior and King. The prophet Isaiah foretold of the day
of Jesus’ crucifixion when he said:
“I
gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I
hid not my face from shame and spitting” (Isaiah 50:6).
“Jesus
Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8), says: “The
time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe
the gospel” (Mark 1:15).
“Except
ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3). “For I came down from
heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me” (John 6:38).
How
to repent?
“But
what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that
is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if
believe
in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For
with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession
is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:8-10).
