R I C H of the World versus R I G H T E O U S N E S S.
“They that trust in their wealth, and boast
themselves in the multitude of their riches; none of them can by any means
redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him” (Psalm 49:6–7).
Jesus says: “Woe unto you that are rich; for
ye have received your consolation” (Luke 6:24).
“Charge them that are rich in this world,
that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living
God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; that they do good, that they be
rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; laying up in
store for themselves a good foundation against the [TIME TO COME]” (1 Timothy
6:17–19).
“And the kings of the earth, and the great
men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every
bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the
mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from
the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For
the [GREAT DAY OF HIS WRATH IS COME]; and who shall be able to stand?”
(Revelation 6:15-17).
“Riches
profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death”
(Proverbs 11:4).
