Jerusalem has fallen!
Our Lord Jesus Christ says: “O
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which
are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even
as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your
house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me
henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the
Lord” (Matthew 23:37-39).
Today, although there continues to
be numerous attempts at peace culminating to the end of time, there is never
going to be lasting peace in Jerusalem. Many people overlook the fact that in
John’s vision of the end of time, the holy city, the great city, Jerusalem is
spiritually called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord Jesus was crucified
(Revelation 11:8).
God promised the inhabitants
of Jerusalem that the city would remain forever (Jeremiah 17:25) if they adhered
to his commandments. However, these commandments as spoken by Jeremiah, just as
the everlasting covenant were broken (Isaiah 24:5). The word of God says:
“They have defiled my land, they
have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and
abominable things” (Jeremiah 16:18). “And in her was found the blood of
prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth” (Revelation
18:23–24).
“And the seventh angel poured out
his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of
heaven, from the throne, saying, ‘It is done.’ And there were voices, and
thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not
since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And every
island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And there fell upon men a
great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men
blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was
exceeding great” (Revelation 16:17–18, 20–21).
