Work of a LIFETIME.
Our
time upon this earth is not some holiday or vacation to be passed in vain and
with wontedness for life. Many people assume that time can be discarded and
made up again during a life span because the general thought is that time does
not really matter.
However,
our time on this earth is in fact very short: our life span is no more than one
hundred and twenty years (Genesis 6:3). From the God’s prospective this is
split seconds because “…one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a
thousand years as one day” (2 Peter 3:8).
“For
who knoweth what is good for man in this life, all the days of his vain life
which he spendeth as a shadow? For who can tell a man what shall be after him
under the sun?” (Ecclesiastes 6:12).
“And
as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews
9:27).
What
is our life? It only but, a lifetime.
Therefore,
we must have a consciousness of the work we do in our lifetime.
“Whatsoever
thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device,
nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest” (Ecclesiastes
9:10).
“Go
thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for [GOD
NOW ACCEPTETH THY WORKS]” (Ecclesiastes 9:7).
“And
whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing
that of the Lord ye shall receive the [REWARD OF THE INHERITANCE]: for ye serve
the Lord Christ” (Colossians 3:23–24).
“For
we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may
receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it
be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but
we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your
consciences” (2 Corinthians 5:10-11).
On
the Last Day, the Day of Judgment, the End of time, when the books are opened,
the prophet Daniel said: “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth
shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting
contempt” (Daniel 12:2).
Jesus,
the only begotten Son of God, the Lamb says: “And, behold, I come quickly; and
my [REWARD] is with me, [TO GIVE EVERY MAN ACCORDING AS HIS WORK SHALL BE]. I
am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last”
(Revelation 22:12-13).
