Everlasting life or contempt?
Job
asked, “If a man die, shall he live again?” (Job 14:14).
“Blessed
be the LORD, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.
Selah. He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto God the LORD belong
the issues from death” (Psalm 68:19-20).
“And
as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews
9:27). “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every
one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done,
whether it be good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10).
“Go
thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God
now accepteth thy works. For the living know that they shall die: but the dead
know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them
is forgotten. Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for
there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither
thou goest” (Ecclesiastes 9:7, 5 10). “For in death there is no remembrance of
thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?” (Psalm 6:5).
On
the Day of Judgment, the Last Day, it is written: “And many of them that sleep
in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to
shame and everlasting contempt” (Daniel 12:2).
