Fear God
A lifetime: “Let us hear the conclusion of
the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole
duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret
thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil” (Ecclesiastes 12:13–14).
What does it mean to “fear God”?
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of
knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction” (Proverbs 1:7).
“The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride,
and arrogancy, and the evil way” (Proverbs 8:13).
“The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring
forever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether” (Psalm
19:9).
“The
fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death”
(Proverbs 14:27).
