We are sheep and Jesus is our Shepherd.
“For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and
Bishop of your souls. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall
receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away” (1 Peter 2:25, 5:4).
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in
green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for
his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort
me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou
anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the
LORD for ever” (Psalm 23:1-6).
Jesus says: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow
me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither
shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is
greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I
and my Father are one” (John 10:27-30).
“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give
you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32).
