JESUS says: “Search the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life” (John 5:39–40).
“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself,
and take up his cross, and follow me” (Matthew 16:24). “And he that taketh not
his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me” (Matthew 10:38).
“Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my
words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of
man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels”
(Mark 8:37-38).
“For it is written, ‘I will destroy the wisdom of the
wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.’ For the
preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which
are saved it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18-19).
“They that followeth after righteousness and mercy
findeth life, righteousness, and honor” (Proverbs 21:21).
“Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation
against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life” (1 Timothy
6:19).
