The LORD God is an invisible God: “For our God is a [CONSUMING FIRE]” (Hebrews 12:29).
We cannot begin to imagine the GREATNESS and GLORY of GOD!
“Know ye
that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves”
(Psalm 100:3).
“Thus saith
the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD
is his name” (Jeremiah 33:2).
“I am the
LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me” (Isaiah 45:5).
“I AM the
LORD thy God. Thou shalt have no other gods before me” (Exodus 20:2–3).
“For the
LORD thy God is a [CONSUMING FIRE], even a jealous God” (Deuteronomy 4:24).
When Moses
was in Mount Horeb in the old time, he was afraid when he could not understand
why the flame of fire on the bush did not consume the bush. As it is written:
“NOW Moses
kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led
the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even
to Horeb.
And the
angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a
bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was
not consumed.
And Moses
said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, [WHY THE BUSH IS NOT
BURNT].
And when the
LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of
the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
And he said,
Draw not nigh hither: [PUT OFF THY SHOES FROM OFF THY FEET, FOR THE PLACE
WHEREON THOU STANDEST IS HOLY GROUND].
Moreover he
said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the
God of Jacob. [AND MOSES HID HIS FACE; FOR HE WAS AFRAID TO LOOK UPON GOD]”
(Exodus 3:1-6).
“For the
LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.
Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary”
(Psalm 96:4-6).
“O PRAISE
the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. For his merciful kindness
is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the
LORD” (Psalm 117:1-2).
“For I know
that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. Whatsoever the
LORD pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places”
(Psalm 135:5-6).
“Who among
us shall dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with
everlasting burnings?” (Isaiah 33:14).
“For our God is a consuming fire” (Hebrews 12:29).
