G O D or the world?
“Jesus
Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8), says: “No
servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the
other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve
God and mammon” (Luke 16:13).
“Love
not the world, neither the things that are in the world” (1 John 2:15).
“For
the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God” (1 Corinthians 3:19).
“If
any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is
in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of
life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away,
and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever” (1
John 2:15–17).
“Ye
are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that
is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak
they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth
God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit
of truth, and the spirit of error” (1 John 4:1-8).
“For
the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us
which are saved it is the [POWER OF GOD]” (1 Corinthians 1:19).
