GOOD FRIDAY: JESUS’ VICTORY ON CALVARY (Luke 23:33)!
When Jesus was crucified along with two thieves, the
prince of this world, the Devil or Satan thought that he won again, as he did
with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
However, little did he know that it was all part of God’s perfect plan, because when Jesus chose his twelve disciples, he said: “[HAVE NOT I CHOSEN YOU TWELVE, AND ONE OF YOU IS A DEVIL]? He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve” (John 6:70–71).
God first chose the people of Israel for his
inheritance and then sent his Son Jesus to all others “to open their eyes, and
to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that
they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified
by faith that is in Jesus” (Acts 26:18).
JESUS’ CRUCIFIXION, DEATH AND RESURRECTION WAS PURPOSED BY GOD TO LET THE INHABITANTS OF THE EARTH KNOW OF THE REWARD OF ETERNAL LIFE FOR HUMANKIND, WHICH WAS HIDDEN SINCE THE TIME OF CREATION.
Jesus said, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me” (John 12:32).
The Devil believed that in putting Jesus to death, he would continue to have power over death. However, this was God’s plan to finally destroy death, with the promise of life through his only begotten Son. The word of God says:
“[FOR THIS PURPOSE THE SON OF GOD WAS MANIFESTED, THAT HE MIGHT DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL]. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God” (1 John 3:8–9).
Jesus expressed this fact to his disciples when he told them saying: “[THEREFORE DOTH MY FATHER LOVE ME, BECAUSE I LAY DOWN MY LIFE, THAT I MIGHT TAKE IT AGAIN]. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. [THIS COMMANDMENT HAVE I RECEIVED OF MY FATHER]” (John 10:17–18).
JESUS, “who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God; but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. [AND BEING FOUND IN FASHION AS A MAN, HE HUMBLED HIMSELF, AND BECAME OBEDIENT UNTO DEATH, EVEN THE DEATH OF THE CROSS]. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name. That at the [NAME OF JESUS] [EVERY KNEE SHOULD BOW], of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that [EVERY TONGUE SHOULD CONFESS] that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:5–11).
“[JESUS CHRIST] the same [YESTERDAY, AND TODAY, AND FOREVER]” (Hebrews 13:8). “Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, [WORLD WITHOUT END]. Amen” (Ephesians 3:21).
