RICH in FAITH or Riches of the world?
The disparity of peoples lives in this world is astounding. This is very
apparent from the known statistic that since the 2008 financial crisis there have
been more billionaires created than at anytime in this world. Yet, at the
sametime, more and more people are falling into conditions of poverty while a
select few are becoming more and more rich as evidence by a recent article
boldly asking: “How much money you need to be part of the 1 percent worldwide?”
However, DO NOT BE DECEIVED because we live in a world of DECEITFULNESS
OF RICHES (Mark 4:19).
Our Lord Jesus pointed out, saying: “Woe unto you that are rich; for ye
have received your consolation” (Luke 6:24). “How hardly shall they that have
riches enter into the Kingdom of God” (Luke 18:24).
“Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not
in the abundance of the things which he possesseth” (Luke 12:15).
Jesus also expressed that we must not “Let the cares of this world,
and the [DECEITFULNESS OF RICHES], and the lusts of other things entering in,
choke the word and it becometh unfruitful” (Mark 4:19).
“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, ‘[VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU, THAT A
RICH MAN SHALL HARDLY ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN]’. And again I say unto
you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a
rich man to enter into the kingdom of God” (Matthew 19:23-24).
“[LAY NOT UP FOR YOURSELVES TREASURES UPON EARTH], where moth and rust
doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. But [LAY UP FOR
YOURSELVES TREASURES IN HEAVEN], where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and
where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where your treasure is, there
will your heart be also” (Matthew 6:19-21).
James, the brother of Jesus asked: “Hath not God chosen the [POOR OF THIS
WORLD RICH IN FAITH], and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them
that love him?” (James 2:5).
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, [THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS
NOT SEEN]” (Hebrews 11:1).
“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for [THE THINGS WHICH ARE SEEN ARE TEMPORAL]; but [THE THINGS WHICH ARE NOT SEEN ARE ETERNAL]” (2 Corinthians 4:18).
“[FOR SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD MEN HAVE NOT HEARD, NOR PERCEIVED BY THE EAR, NEITHER HATH THE EYE SEEN], O God, beside thee, what [HE HATH PREPARED FOR HIM THAT WAITETH FOR HIM]” (Isaiah 64:4).
“[OUR SOUL WAITETH] for the LORD: he is our help and our shield” (Psalm 33:20). “It is good that a man should [BOTH HOPE AND QUIETLY WAIT] for the [SALVATION] of the LORD” (Lamentation 3:26).
