SERVING the LORD or Striving with the LORD? “Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name” (Jeremiah 33:2). “[WOE UNTO HIM THAT STRIVETH WITH HIS MAKER]” (Isaiah 45:9).
“And if it seem evil unto you to [SERVE] the LORD, [CHOOSE YOU THIS DAY WHOM YE WILL SERVE]; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: [BUT AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE WILL SERVE] the LORD. And the people answered and said, [GOD FORBID THAT WE SHOULD FORSAKE] the LORD, to serve other gods” (Joshua 24:15-16).
“For all the gods of the nations are idols:
but the LORD made the heavens” (Psalm 96:5).
“Before the mountains were brought forth, or
ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from [EVERLASTING TO
EVERLASTING, THOU ART GOD]” (Psalm 90:2).
“The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands
formed the dry land. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before
the LORD our maker” (Psalm 95:5-6).
“All nations whom thou hast made shall come
and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name. For thou art
great, and doest wondrous things: [THOU ART GOD ALONE]” (Psalm 86:9-10).
“THE LORD reigneth, he is clothed with
majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself:
[THE WORLD ALSO IS STABLISHED, THAT IT CANNOT BE MOVED].Thy throne is
[ESTABLISHED OF OLD: THOU ART FROM EVERLASTING]” (Psalm 93:1-2).
“Fear before him, all the earth: [THE WORLD
ALSO SHALL BE STABLE, THAT IT BE NOT MOVED]. Let the heavens be glad, and let
the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The LORD reigneth” (1
Chronicles 16: 30-31).
“[THOU ART MY GOD], and I will praise thee:
thou art my God, I will exalt thee. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is
good: for his mercy endureth for ever” (Psalm 118:28-29).
“Blessed be the LORD God of Israel [FROM
EVERLASTING, AND TO EVERLASTING]. Amen, and Amen” (Psalm 41:13).
