The Lord’s Prayer. “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the [MORNING], and thy faithfulness every [NIGHT]” (Psalm 92:1-2).
“For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places” (Psalm 135:5-6).
“The LORD is far from the wicked: but [HE
HEARETH THE PRAYER OF THE RIGHTEOUS]” (Proverbs 15:29).
Our Lord Jesus says: “When ye pray, use not
vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard
for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father
knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him” (Matthew 6:7-8).
“[AFTER THIS MANNER THEREFORE PRAY YE]: Our
Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our
debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver
us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen” (Matthew 6:9-13).
