How to inherit Eternal Life? Jesus, when “…a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, ‘Master, what shall I do to inherit [ETERNAL LIFE]?’
He said unto him, ‘What is written in the law? how readest thou?’
And he answering said, ‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with
all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all
thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, ‘Thou hast
answered right: [THIS DO, AND THOU SHALT LIVE]’” (Luke 10:25-28).
Now, the lawyer wanted to justify himself to Jesus and then
asked him, “Who is my neighbour?” (Luke 10:29).
To know who is our neighbour, we must be reminded every day
of our lives of the answer Jesus give to the lawyer (Luke 10:30-37).
“And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from
Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his
raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance
there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on
the other side.
And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and
looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he
journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him
on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.And on the
morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and
said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come
again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was
neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, ‘He that shewed
mercy on him.’ Then said Jesus unto him, ‘Go, and do thou likewise’” (Luke
10:30-37).
Now, many people may be quick to point out that we are not
under the Law because we are SAVED By Grace through Faith (Ephesians 2:8–9).
Jesus made it very clear when he said: “Think not that I am
come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to
fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one
tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever
therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so,
he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do
and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven”
(Matthew 5:17-19).
The Apostle Paul said: “Owe no man any thing, but to love one
another: for [HE THAT LOVETH ANOTHER HATH FULFILLED THE LAW].
For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not
kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not
covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in
this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore [LOVE IS THE
FULFILLING OF THE LAW]” (Romans 13:8-10)
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and
the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen” (2 Corinthians 13:14).
